Panel walls reinforced with geogrids
The new Tenax Panel system is suitable for retaining works with faces made up of precast panels with smooth or embossed finish which are available in different colours.
Description
The new Panel system developed by Tenax represents a state-of-the-art solution compared with the classic systems on the market. The system modularity is highlighted by the simple shapes of the panels (they are rectangular or square), indeed they can be laid in brick bond pattern or with vertical grout lines. The reduced size simplifies their transportation and installation.
The possibility to choose colour, type and depth of the face design makes the Tenax panel system pleasing to the eye and customizable both for residential and industrial structures.
A PP-R element connects panels and geogrids. Since there are not metal connections, the system can be used also if stray electric currents are present (e.g. along railways) or in chemically aggressive soil.

Components
The reinforcement element is constituted by the Tenax TT HDPE uniaxial extruded geogrids which interact with the soil and improve its mechanical performance. The soil-geogrid structure combines the compressive strength of the soil with the tensile strength of the geogrid, creating a material with improved characteristics.
Tenax TT geogrids
Tenax TT geogrids are manufactured by extruding and uniaxial stretching of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) grids; this technology produces products having important technical properties that permit their usage in structural applications.
The interlocking between soil and geogrid and the capacity to absorb stresses and redistribute them improve the shear and compressive performance of the soil.
Tenax TT geogrids are chemically inert, not attackable from biological agents, not subject to hydrolysis and can be used in many applications.
Precast panels
The precast concrete panels with customizable finish have pilot holes and ribbing on the edges to ensure the connection between the different elements.
In case of 90° bends, the integrated bevel has also the function of corner part, therefore further additional elements are useless.
Connection element
The connection system between the precast concrete panels and the reinforcement HDPE geogrids is patented: a PP-R element transmits the geogrid strength to the panels on the face. Tests performed in the Tenax internal laboratory have proved the effectiveness of this solution that is inexpensive and easy to use.
