Permanent and semi-permanent loads spread over large areas |

Remediation of a polluted

Parking lots, storage
areas and artificial basins or landfills at times are constructed
over soils with poor mechanical characteristics. Under these circumstances,
differential and localized settlement caused by the presence of
permanent loads, represent the principal cause of settlement and
breakdown in the soil and in the base’s structure. In such circumstances,
the correct use of a TENAX VDR drainage strip together with a rigid
basal structure reinforced by TENAX LBO SAMP geogrids, gives the
degree of consolidation required by the project designer within
the desired timeframe.

![]() The permanent load of the waste dumped in a landfill can produce settlements of the subgrade and consequently high stresses in the waterproofing layers. The permanent load of the water in a reservoir may lead to premature failure of the waterproofing layers due to excessive settlements of the soft subgrade. ![]() Several layers of TENAX bi-oriented geogrids significantly improve the bearing capacity of permanently loaded areas, like landfills and water reservoirs, thus greatly reducing settlements. TENAX bi-oriented geogrids ![]() TENAX geosynthetics prevent localized failures and distribute the load over a larger area: as a result the potential failure surface is deepened and the bearing capacity is increased.
