Landfills and contaminated sites

When constructing landfills and remediating contaminated sites, drainage geosynthetics can be used as an alternative to the traditional natural granular materials required by current regulations. Tenax geogrids and geocomposites allow rainwater, leachate, and biogas to drain through the capping, base, and wall systems.

Capping

Tenax offers a range of traditional and innovative drainage geocomposites: Tenax HD and Tenax HF high-performance geocomposites are used in projects requiring high flow rates or where a higher interface friction angle than that offered by traditional products on the market is required.

On very long slopes, it is necessary to provide an element that increases friction between the covering soil and the waterproofing/drainage package: Tenax MULTIMAT R reinforced geomats allow the soil to "cling" to the underlying package and thus prevent it from slipping due to its own weight.

Bottom drainage

The bottom and walls of the tank are subject to the weight of the waste, so it is essential that the drainage materials have high compressive strength in order to guarantee the design flow rate. Thanks to its 3-layer wire structure, Tenax TENDRAIN geocomposite performs the function of leachate drainage even in the presence of significant waste thickness.

Erosion protection

The covering of a landfill site prior to complete revegetation is subject to runoff and surface erosion: these phenomena create furrows and channels and prevent vegetation growth. Tenax MULTIMAT and Tenax MULTIMAT P geomats provide important protection against erosion, allowing rapid and uniform vegetation growth.

Containment embankments

To increase the volume of a landfill, and therefore its economic return, it is necessary to build raised embankments with a reduced cross-section, ideally made from the waste itself. The Tenax RIVEL reinforced earth system guarantees the stability of the embankments, allows for revegetation, and therefore has no impact on the landscape.
