Parking lots, storage
areas and artificial basins or landfills at times are constructed
over soils with poor mechanical characteristics. Under these circumstances,
differential and localized settlement caused by the presence of
permanent loads, represent the principal cause of settlement and
breakdown in the soil and in the base’s structure. In landfills
and artificial basins, localized settlement can also cause the rupture
of the impermeable basal layers, leading to very serious environmental
consequences.
Bioriented TENAX LBO SAMP and TENAX MS geogrids reinforce and increase
the stiffness at the base of areas having permanent loads; the tensile
forces and the lateral confinement provided by the geogrids allows
a more uniform load distribution and, consequentially, a higher
bearing capacity.
The time required for the completion of the primary
consolidation phase is often very long and incompatible with the
operating needs for which the structure is designed. In such circumstances,
the correct use of a TENAX VDR drainage strip together with a rigid
basal structure reinforced by TENAX LBO SAMP geogrids, gives the
degree of consolidation required by the project designer within
the desired timeframe. The result is the reduction or even the elimination
of the differential and localized settlement. |

TENAX LBO geogrids supports a greater weight than a geotextile and limits deformation. |
